Project 3

Point Value:

This project is worth 25 points.

Objectives:

To learn to use the gcc compiler
To become familiar with syntax error messages generated by the gcc compiler

Assignment:

The assignment is as follows:

Using a text editor, type in the C program shown in the "The Program" section below. Type it in EXACTLY AS SHOWN, including all spacing. (Two exceptions in the header comment: 1) insert YOUR name as the author, and 2) insert YOUR e-mail address.) Make sure to save the program with the file name proj3.c.
Compile the program using the command

Correct any compilation errors (if any) that you receive and recompile until you receive no errors.
Look at your directory to make sure that the file a.out is there. This is your executable program.
Run the program a few times using different sets of numbers to be sure that it works. To run your program, type a.out at the prompt.
E-mail your source code (proj3.c) as an attachment to Gaurav (jolly1@umbc.edu). Do NOT send a copy of your executable (a.out). Make the Subject of your e-mail is Project 3 so that Gaurav knows what it is! He will compile and run your program, then e-mail you your grade for the assignment.
Try to understand how the program is doing what it is doing. Don't worry about every detail of the code, just the overall logic. We will go over the code in detail in class.
