Bitmaps (IV)
Originally, disk addressing was limited to only 16 bits. Using 1K block size, that meant the largest possible disk size was 65M.
Many files are smaller than 1K, so increasing the block size would wasting disk bandwidth, reading and writing mostly empty blocks.
