Project 1 Notes and Corrections

If you choose to alter the Makefile given to you for this project, please note that your executable MUST be named Proj1.
This is required not only to use submitrun, but also because the many scripts we use for testing and grading your project assume Proj1 is the name of your executable.

In the past couple of days, some changes were made to the project as listed in the bullet items below
- Errors were discovered in the Makefile which were necessary to correct, not only for this project, but because you are going to use this Makefile as the model for your own Makefiles in future projects.
- Proj1.C was changed -- the truckCmds variable was changed from an "fstream" to an "ifstream". While this change was not absolutely necessary, many students seemed to be having difficult dealing with fstream because of their limited C++ experience in CMSC202. The change was made so that these students would not spend a great deal of time on this aspect of the project.
Because these changes have come mid-way through the project and because those of you would figured out how to use fstream will have to recode some of your project
The due date for project 1 is hereby extended until midnight, Tuesday September 18th.
Project 2 will still be made availabe on Monday Sept. 17th and will still be due on Wednesday, October 3rd as per the original schedule. Those of you who need the extra two days for project 1 will still have ample time to complete project 2.

The variable "truckCmds" was changed from type "fstream" to type "ifstream"
The Makefile for project 1 was found to have a problem today. Please copy the newest one to your directory.

Although the project description does not specifically list default constructors for the PerishableGoods or EquipmentGoods class, the default constructors for these ARE ALLOWED in this project. The project description was updated to list the default constructor these classes.
string.o was missing from the list of OBJECTS in the Makefile. This file was added to the list. Students who have already copied the Makefile should edit their Makefile or get a new copy of the Makefile from Mr. Frey's public directory.

Goods which are carried by the Truck are considered to be duplicates if and only if all the attributes of the goods are identical. For example, 100 pounds of red grapes is DIFFERENT from 200 pounds of red grapes and DIFFERENT from 100 pounds of green grapes.
