What is GL?


Your GL Account

GL is short for General Labs. Thus when we refer to your GL account we are referring to your general labs user account. Through this account you have access to various computing resources across the campus.


What All Does my GL Account Give Me Access To?

There are many labs that are maintained by OIT, of which your GL account will give you access to. An up to date listing of these labs and there resources can be found at http://www.umbc.edu/oit/classroomtechnology/labs/lablocation.html. In these labs you will find an assortment of dual bootable Windows 2000 / Linux PCs, Macintosh's, and several IRIX machines.

You also get remote server access to several UNIX machines...

The username and password on this account are also your username and password for http://my.umbc.edu/.

Your username is also an email address. You automatically get this when you sign up for a GL account. It is username@gl.umbc.edu where username is you logon name given to you.
