Performance
Performance is determined by the efficiency with which
the system's resources are allocated and shared.
The important factors are:
easiest resources to measure, but relatively unimportant
with limited RAM, swapping and paging is # 1 enemy
each disk access causes a stall worth millions of CPU instruction
(the real performance bottleneck)
latency and heavy network traffic ( NFS)
