How to Improve I/O Performance?

• To maximize disk performance, filesystem should be put on different disks,
• Installing more than one disk controller or SCSI bus,
• Divide up the news database among several disks ( if site receives Usenet news),
• Split swap area among several disks,
• Set up /tmp as a "memory-based filesystem" ( as a PC RAM disk),
• not enable some software such as quota and accounting.
